About This Course
English as a Second Language (ESL) at the Basic Level is the foundational English language for the learner with minimal or no experience in English. The ideal learner is the non-native of English speaking language. This level introduces the learner to basic meet and greet, introductions, talking formally vs informally in English. Furthermore, this level expands the learner’s ability to form short answers in short sentences. Each lesson completes 5-6 questions and phrases in a dialog in English. This level is composed of 8 modules designed to prepare the learner for the Novice level. Other topics include talking about colors and animals, talking about family members, relatives and making physical descriptions, talking about school and office supplies, how to make a request or ask about a favor, talk about weather, clothing, how to read a price tag, learning numbers up to 100, etc. At the completion of this level, the learner should be able to present himself/herself in English, talk about different topics at a basic level, and making short dialogues and providing an appropriate answer. This level is required for the Novice level (level 2)”.
